Blog: Old age ain't for sissies

The older I get ...

... the more appreciative I am of the fact that I can still pick up a pen or type on a keyboard and write.

Of course being able to see what I'm writing is another matter but having good glasses sure helps.

It's not an easy life, being a writer, even harder to make a living, but it's one I wouldn't trade for anything (well, almost anything!). I started writing stories when I was a kid, maybe 10 or 11, snapshots of what I was doing, who I was spending time with, what our cats and the hedgehog in the garden were up to, every day things that were important to my young self.

I'm still doing this in my Blog and have decided to focus, for a while, on this 'getting on a bit' time of life, when age begins to creep up on us, stealthy at first, and then announcing itself rather loudly with sore bones and sagging muscles.

My Blog records my day to day thoughts and insights into this writing life, and the world we live in, because as writers, being observant, watchful, and listening, is as big a part of the creative process as writing itself.

So join me as we age gracefully together, and remember, as Ms Bette Davis once said, 'Old age ain't for sissies.'
