Coaching & Mentoring
Individual support for your writing project
Navigating the writing path can be a lonely journey ...
...and it helps to have someone on your side who 'gets it', can sit beside you during the tough times, listen to what you have to say and provide practical and creative advice.
I offer individual mentor/coaching sessions on Zoom, Facebook Messenger, or in-person at my Writing Place, all designed to support your writing projects and you, the writer.
The sessions can be 'one-off' or ongoing, depending on your writing needs. If you need ongoing help with your project, let's work out a schedule that will best support your writing.
Have a look at some mentoring options below, or please contact me and we'll talk it through.
Need some help getting started?
I want to help you write the story only you can tell.
Maybe you've already started on your writing project, or have a memory stick loaded with writing and photos or maybe a notepad full of rough ideas, and now you need help to take the next step.
Perhaps you've hit a roadblock, or have run aground on an empty, desolate beach with no inspiration in sight?
Might you need some help with writing discipline and routine, or you want to turn your life story into a book and need someone to write it for you?
I can:
write your story for you as a ghostwriter,
help you improve your writing skills,
help you sort through memories, photos, and work you may have already done so you can write your own story,
help get your thoughts in order to make a start, to keep going, and work around roadblocks and climb over walls,
alleviate some of those feelings we have from time to time, like: 'overwhelmed', 'isolated', 'I'm the only person in the world trying to write a book'.
Choose the level of mentoring that's right for you.
Mentoring sessions are available at The Writing Place in Arkles Bay, Whangaparaoa and on Zoom or Facebook Messenger.
Please contact me to arrange your session. I'll work in with you to select a day and time that suits your schedule.
A one to one session with me can really help if you:
have an idea for a project but don't know where or how to get started
have a project on the go already and need some guidance to navigate a few roadblocks or settle some speed wobbles
need help collating or organising existing writing or ideas into a cohesive whole
want to talk through ideas you may have about a writing project
need someone cheering you on from the sidelines
need a quiet, creative, dedicated space to gather your thoughts
Choose the option that best suits your needs.
It's as easy as ABC. The one and two hour sessions can also be taken on Zoom or we can work out a mentoring schedule that suits you.
A. One-hour Writing Session
Cost: $70
Spend an hour with me going through your writing and project issues.
One hour session where we review your writing and come up with solutions to common issues such as where and how to start
B. Two-Hour Writing Session
Cost: $120
A two hour intensive where we dissect your writing project, take it apart and put it back together again with a pathway for progress.
C. Four-Hour Writing Session
Cost: $225
This is a full-on, deep creative immersion where we focus exclusively and intensively on your project. Recommended if you have a project already underway and need some serious and full on effort to get to the finish line or make a solid start on a solid idea. This session can be done on Zoom as one 4-hour session or two 2-hour sessions.
A Testimonial from Helen
"Jane has been helping me with my writing for the last twelve months. I started my novel when I attended a fiction writer's course. I then got writer's block.
"Jane has helped trigger the exploration of the characters in my work.. She asks what is happening with the characters, the plot and we are working on a first person narrative rather than third person. She also helped me discover the real protagonist.
"These huge steps had stopped me from writing and I am now back in the flow thanks to Jane.
"Her tutoring is gentle, sensible and affirming.
"I am so glad I have this opportunity to run the work by her as it develops. She has an astute eye and every suggestion is from the reader's perspective and helps make the story more whole and readable.
"The writing would be substantially different if it wasn't for her capacity to observe the gaps and make sound suggestions.
"I recommend her skills to anyone who wishes to get on with their novel or memoir. She is a brave and gentle supporter of my writing and I feel I am in good and safe hands."
